Hier meine quick and dirty Auswertung der Evaluation (gmo lastig) des Saatgutrechts. Seit Ihr zu der stakeholder conference eingeladen? Hab einiges Interessantes gefunden und denke es sollte verbreitet werden... Ciao Benny 3. Information about the progress of the evaluation The final report has been submitted to the Commission and has been accepted by DG SANCO. The texts of the report, its annexes and its executive summary have been published on SANCO’s website. A brief presentation of the results of the evaluation has been made to the Council on 4 December. This presentation (in power-point) will be placed on CIRCA, together with the direct hyperlink to the evaluation web-pages. A stakeholder conference on the results of the evaluation will be organised on 18 March 2009. By June 2009, the action plan for the review of the legislation on the marketing of seed and propagating material should be ready for adoption by the SANCO management. The target timing for a Commission proposal for a revised legislation is set at the end of 2010. http://ec.europa.eu/food/plant/propagation/evaluation/index_en.htm Paar Auszüge: The majority of stakeholders consulted ask for the establishment of a minimum threshold for the adventitious presence of genetically modified organisms in non GM seed to solve the problem of the zero tolerance that is set by the current legislation. To explicity mention in the certification provisions the control of GM varieties and the adventitious GM presence in non-GM seed. The FCEC considers that this option is quite easy to implement and short-term; The responses from the qualitative survey (Q 1.1.4. n=156) indicate that 65% of respondents consider that the Community legislation on authorisation of GMO’s has had a negative impact on the free marketing of S&PM, mainly because of the lack of thresholds for the adventitious presence of GMOs in non-GM seed lots. When considering the group ‘Suppliers active in the seed sector’, this proportion increases to 91% (n=66). Annex: 3.3.2. When compared to the marketing of conventional or GM varieties, the marketing of the conservation varieties is clearly different in socio- economic and genetic diversity terms. The evaluation should address the specific needs of these threatened varieties and species of seeds with a high genetic value that need appropriate In situ and ex situ conservation actions. Equally, the evaluation should look into the impact of the cultivation of GM seed crops.
